The ‘abject’ and notions of the ‘uncanny’ have underpinned my current studio practice. That almost irresistible urge to look at images that stir unpleasant reactions and emotions within us is an interesting phenomenon. I am using plant materials as a representation of the invisible bonds of human attachment, the unseen yet very real connections that we make with each other that can be so powerful and at times overwhelming.

The main thrust  of my practice has been in the field of Art and Science, I am not only at ease within this genre but I am also enthused by scientific methodologies and processes. My subject is the body, in particular the internal body. I bring into view the ‘hidden’ in order to create a dialogue. I want a system of images that defy normal understanding; my work is not what it seems to be.
